Hemorrhoids (or Piles) can be one of the most annoying health problems in the world.

If hemorrhoids don't go away after using home cures, it is time to go to a doctor whose emphasis is on curing and taking away hemorrhoids.

Treatment of hemorrhoids depends on the location of the problem, the symptoms and how serious the condition is at the time of treatment. While the majority of cases of hemorrhoids disappear when the underlying problem is fixed, it is recommended to examine the situation if a lot of pain and /or bleeding is involved.

If diet and exercise changes along with the sitz baths and anti-biotic cream do not help, it is time to try other treatments.

Applying different instruments known as scopes; the surgeon can find the area and the problem with the hemorrhoids. Then the physician can give us the information that we require to come to a well informed conclusion.

Rubber Band Ligation may be used to tie off the hemorrhoids so that the blood supply to the inflamed vein is cut off. This is known as a fixative procedure; it may actually keep the hemorrhoid from developing in the same spot again. This is the preferred method of treatment as it can treat small and medium sized hemorrhoids. Also, approximately 80% of those who undergo this procedure find that it eases their symptoms. Improvements after the treatment seem to be most promising with this procedure.

Infrared Photocoagulation is when a light source is used to slowly remove the hemorrhoid. Sometimes more than one treatment may be necessary. This method is also called coagulation therapy and it tries to create scar tissues to prevent future hemorrhoids.

Sometimes, as when a clot has formed, lasers may be used to cauterize the hemorrhoid.

Another option is surgery, depending on how painful the hemorrhoids are. This option should be made as a last resort since the period after the surgery is very difficult. Hemorrhoidectomy (surgical removal of hemorrhoids) is usually used for very large and bothersome hemorrhoids. It may be very difficult to even urinate for several days after the operation. There can also be severe pain, discomfort, and bleeding for days. If the scars do not heal properly, antibiotics may be needed to fend off infections or abscesses.

In the regimen of hemorrhoids treatments, ways to remedy the hemorrhoids by simple methods are tried at first to subdue or control the veins. If these procedures don't work, the doctor will proceed to the next level of treatment, surgery or removal of the hemorrhoid. Surgery is more costly and has a greater risk of complications, especially in older patients.

After surgery, it is crucial to alter your lifestyle so that you don't get hemorrhoids again. Common sense dictates that you don't want to go through a lot of pain and then repeat the whole experience all over again.
